LEAGUE Organizational Document
Each Bocce League is a Lexington Country Club
organization for the purpose of:
|
1. Promoting competitive Team Bocce play among the members
of the Lexington Country Club. |
|
2. Promoting competition in tournaments and with other Bocce clubs
in Southwest Florida. |
|
3. Promoting the maintenance and improvement of the Lexington
Country Club Bocce courts. |
|
4. Promoting the sport of Bocce in general at the Lexington Country
Club. |
Team players or substitutes in league
play must be Lexington Country Club members (or renters with
membership transferred to them),
know the rules of play, have play experience, demonstrate a reasonable
skill at playing the game, and commit to a season of play.
Due to limited courts and court time, membership
size may be limited by the Bocce
League
Committee. A waiting list of Lexington members interested in
being on a league team will be maintained.
A fee for league team players may be charged to cover
incidental expenses and trophies.
Activities
Activities of Team Play Bocce Leagues may include
(but not limited to) the following:
|
1. Team Play – League type and tournament
type competition of teams formed within each Bocce League.
The team play season is from December 1 through March 31.
|
Schedule: |
|
- October 15 to November 15 – Sign-up for
Leagues |
|
- December 1 to January 1 – Team practice
games |
|
- January 1 through March 31 – Team
competition and tournaments |
|
|
2.
External Competition, Leagues, and Tournaments – Competition
with other Bocce clubs and/or teams in the area may be arranged or
scheduled. One or more teams, as required, will be selected that will best represent the LCC Bocce Leagues in the
competition. |
|
3. Social activities for league members. |
|
4. Fund raising activities to sponsor Bocce events or Bocce court
improvements, if needed. |
Team Formation
Intra-league Team Play
Team formation
for intra-league team play will depend on the number of club members
who signup and/or a limit on the number of teams. Team players from
the previous year have first priority; temporary inactive team players have second priority; and new experienced players
on the waiting list that have a skill rating have third priority. New
inexperienced players are placed on the waiting list, must gain
experience, and be rated. Teams will be formed per methods determined
by each Bocce League Committee to form teams as balanced as possible.
Non-team players that have a rating may serve as substitutes for all teams.
External Team
Play
Teams for
external team competition will be selected by the Bocce League
Committee to have 4 members and one or more alternates on each team. Players will be
selected by the Bocce League Committee that will form the strongest possible teams to represent
Lexington Country Club. Team players are responsible for all fees
involved and transportation.
Game Rules
Bocce games
played on the Lexington Country Club courts will be played using the
LCC
Bocce Team Play Rules.
